Home › Residential › General Household Pests
General household pest control covers the everyday pests that get into Palm Beach County homes: ants, cockroaches and palmetto bugs, spiders, wasps, silverfish, earwigs and similar crawling insects. We start with an inspection, focus treatment on the exterior where most pests come from, treat inside only when it’s needed, and leave a written service report after every visit.
South Florida’s heat, humidity and rain mean insects are active all year. Most of them live outdoors in mulch, leaf litter, palms and irrigation-wet soil, and come inside when it rains hard, when it turns dry, or when they find a crack near a door or window. A good home pest control plan stops them at the edges of the house before they become an indoor problem.
What a general household pest plan covers
- Ants that trail along baseboards, counters and bathroom fixtures, including ghost ants and big-headed ants.
- Cockroaches and palmetto bugs that wander in from the yard or garage.
- Spiders and webs around eaves, porches, lanai screens and front doors.
- Wasps and wasp nests under eaves, soffits, lanai frames and play sets. For honey bees, see bee colony treatment.
- Silverfish, earwigs, centipedes and millipedes in damp areas.
Some pests need their own plan. Rodents and roof rats, termites, bed bugs and mosquitoes are handled as separate services because the inspection and treatment are different. For iguanas, raccoons, opossums and other wildlife around the house, call us and we’ll coordinate the right solution.
How our home pest control visits work
Inspection first
On the first visit we walk the whole property, inside and out, and look for the conditions that attract pests: moisture, mulch against the slab, gaps around pipes and doors, and plants touching the walls.
Exterior-focused treatment
We treat the foundation, entry points, eaves and landscape beds and knock down webs. Exterior service greatly reduces what makes it inside.
Interior only when needed
Following integrated pest management, we treat inside when the inspection shows it’s needed, and we’ll explain any precautions for your family and pets before we start. We use reduced-risk products, reviewed before use. See our pet and kid friendly pest control page for how that works.
Scheduled follow-up
Initial treatments get a follow-up visit. Regular visits are scheduled at least 24 hours ahead, so we never show up unannounced.
Simple ways to keep pests out between visits
- Keep mulch and soil a few inches below the top of the slab.
- Trim shrubs and vines so they don’t touch the walls or roof.
- Fix dripping hose bibs and irrigation heads that spray the house.
- Store pet food and pantry goods in sealed containers.

Home pest control FAQ
How often do you service a home?
Most homes do well on a regular quarterly plan after the initial service and follow-up. We’ll recommend a schedule after the inspection based on what we find.
Do I need to be home for service?
For exterior service, usually not, as long as we can reach the yard. For the first inspection or any interior treatment, someone should be home.
What pests are not included in general pest control?
Termites, rodents, bed bugs, mosquitoes and lawn pests have their own inspections and plans. We’ll tell you if anything we find needs a separate service. For iguanas, raccoons and other wildlife, call us and we’ll coordinate the right solution.
What will I get after each visit?
A written service report that lists what we saw, what we treated, the products used and any recommendations for you.
