Schools and daycares need pest control built on integrated pest management (IPM): inspection, prevention and targeted treatment, scheduled around children. Florida’s school facility standards call for pest management based on IPM. For private schools, preschools, daycares and childcare centers in Palm Beach County, we inspect first, treat only where needed, schedule visits to avoid kids, and document every visit.
Kids, snacks, lunchrooms and playgrounds make schools a magnet for ants, cockroaches and rodents. Fire ants on a playground are a safety concern. At the same time, parents and staff want to know exactly what’s being done and when. An IPM program answers both.
Common problems we help schools and daycares with
- Fire ants on playgrounds, fields and walkways.
- Ants and cockroaches in kitchens, cafeterias, classrooms with snacks and restrooms.
- Rodents around dumpsters, storage rooms and portable classrooms.
- Wasps and bees nesting near doors and play structures. See bee colony treatment and our bees and wasps guide.
- Mosquitoes around outdoor play areas during the rainy season. See mosquito control.
- Termites in older buildings and portables. See termite control.
How we work in schools and childcare centers
Inspect first
A complimentary site inspection of buildings, kitchens, playgrounds and grounds, with your director or facilities lead.
Targeted treatment, scheduled around kids
We use targeted methods such as baits and exterior bait stations, apply products according to the label, and schedule treatments when children aren’t in the area. We’ll tell you how long to keep anyone out of a treated area.
Prevention recommendations
Many problems in schools come from food in classrooms, open doors and clutter in storage. We’ll point out what to change.
Written service reports
Every visit is documented so you can share what was done with staff and parents and keep records on file.

School and daycare pest control FAQ
What is IPM in schools?
Integrated pest management in schools means preventing pests first, monitoring, and using targeted treatments only when needed. The U.S. EPA promotes IPM for schools, and Florida’s school facility standards (SREF) call for pest management based on it.
When do you treat?
We schedule visits ahead of time and plan treatments for times and areas where children aren’t present. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM.
Do you treat playgrounds for fire ants?
Yes. We treat fire ant mounds and can set up regular checks of playgrounds and fields.
Do you work with public schools?
Public school districts have their own procurement and pest management programs. Our service is a good fit for private schools, preschools, daycares and childcare centers. Call us to talk through your facility.
