Home › Trade Partners (B2B) › Builders & Contractors

Builders, demolition contractors and developers in Palm Beach and Broward County bring us in for a rodent evaluation and treatment before a building comes down, so rats don’t scatter into the neighborhood, and for pest problems found during demolition or remodeling. We work as your trade partner on the schedule of your job and give you written documentation for your file.

When an old building comes down, the rats living in it don’t disappear. They move to the houses and businesses next door, and the neighbors call the town, the builder and the owner. Opening walls and roofs during demolition or remodeling also turns up termites, bees and other pests that stop a crew. Both jobs need a licensed pest control company that shows up when the job is ready.

Pre-demolition rodent evaluation and treatment

Why it matters

Rodents nesting in an older structure scatter to neighboring properties once demolition starts. Some local governments, including some island communities, require a rodent evaluation before demolition for exactly this reason. Check with your building department for what your permit needs; we can work to that requirement.

How it works

  1. Evaluation: we inspect the building and the property for rodent activity, nesting and entry points, including attics, crawl spaces, sheds and dense landscaping like sabal palms.
  2. Treatment as needed: based on what we find, we treat ahead of the demolition date so the population is reduced before the building comes down.
  3. Documentation: you get a written report of the evaluation and treatment for your permit file, the owner and the neighbors who ask.

When to call

As soon as a demolition date is likely. Treatment works best when it starts ahead of demolition, not the week of. See more about our commercial rodent control.

Pest problems found during demolition and remodeling

Opening walls and roofs turns up surprises: drywood termite damage, subterranean termite tubes, roof rat nests, bee colonies in walls and soffits, and cockroaches in old plumbing chases. Call us and we’ll inspect and treat so your crew can keep working. Services include termite control, tent fumigation and bee colony treatment.

Builder and contractor FAQ

Is a rodent evaluation required before demolition?

Some local governments require one, especially in some coastal and island communities. Requirements vary by town, so check with your building department. We can perform the evaluation and treatment and document it for your file.

How far ahead of demolition should we schedule rodent work?

As early as you can. Treatment needs time to work before the building comes down, so call as soon as a demolition date is likely.

Do you provide paperwork for the permit file?

Yes. You get a written report of the evaluation and any treatment. Ask your building department what it needs, and tell us so we can include it.

Can you work directly for our company instead of the owner?

Yes. As your trade partner we can work for you, report to you and coordinate with your team, or work directly with the owner if you prefer.
